collect
| When | What | Why, and on what basis |
|---|---|---|
| You send an enquiry | Name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you picked, your description of the job, and any photographs you attach. | To reply to you and price the work. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering a contract. |
| You book a slot | All of the above, plus the address of the property and the date and time of the visit. | To turn up at the right house at the right time and carry out the work. Lawful basis: performance of a contract. |
| You create an account | Your email address, and a record of when you signed in. We never hold a password — signing in is by a one-time link sent to your email. | So you can see your bookings and your product list. Lawful basis: performance of a contract. |
| You add to a product list | The links you paste, quantities, the room you assign them to, and your notes. We fetch public product information from those pages — the same information a link preview shows. | So we can price and buy the right materials. Lawful basis: performance of a contract. |
| You use the site | Technical information your browser sends, and a short-lived record of your network address used to limit abuse of the forms. | To keep the site working and stop it being abused. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in a functioning, secure website. |
Photographs of your home
Photographs you upload are personal data and we treat them as such. They are stored in a private location, are not published anywhere, are not used in marketing, and cannot be reached by a public web address. Only the owner of the business can open them, through a link that expires after a short period.
We will never put a photograph of your home on the website, on social media or in the project gallery without asking you first and separately.
sees it
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- Our hosting and database provider stores the information on our behalf, under a contract that requires them to protect it.
- Retailers whose links you paste receive a request from our server for the product page. That request contains no information about you — not your name, not your email, not your address.
- Tradespeople and suppliers may be told the address and the scope of the work where that is necessary to carry out the job.
- Our accountant, insurer or a professional adviser where we are required to provide records.
we keep it
| Record | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiries that did not become work | 90 days | Long enough to follow up, no longer. |
| Bookings you cancelled, or we declined | 90 days | Then deleted automatically. |
| Completed jobs | 6 years | Required for tax, accounting and insurance. |
| Account and product list | Until you delete the account | It is yours; you can remove it at any time. |
rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have anything inaccurate corrected;
- ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- ask us to send it to you or someone else in a portable format;
- complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk if you think we have got it wrong.
If you have an account, the first, fifth and third of those are buttons rather than an email: My details lets you download everything we hold about you and delete your account without asking us.
This site sets no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics or tracking cookies. If you sign in, we store a cookie that keeps you signed in — it is necessary for the account to work and there is no way to offer accounts without it.
